Katherine L. Haines
Katherine L. “Katie” Haines, 34, of Mt. Pleasant, Pa. died Wednesday, November 30, 2016.
She was born November 15, 1982, in Greensburg, a daughter of Charles E. (Christine) Haines, Jr, of Isabella, and Deborah J. (Dean Erdner) Hanson Haines, of Mt. Pleasant.
She was a member of Calvary Chapel in Fredericktown.
She was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Equine Management from Bethany College.
She was active with the Western Pa. Corgi Meetup.
Katie loved horses, dogs, cats, and many other animals, especially her Corgi, Mason and cat Yeti.
Katie enjoyed cooking and baking. She was well-known and loved for her Black Friday potato soup and she made the best pie crust. She also enjoyed numerous arts, crafts and hobbies including quilting, crocheting, painting and origami.
She had eclectic taste in music, particularly enjoying live concerts, from classical to country.
She participated in living history events and was a volunteer with the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. She was also a member of the Centerville Borough Sportsmen’s Association and enjoyed hunting.
She worked on a number of movies as an extra and a production assistant. Her favorite movie, even as a child, was White Christmas, in no small part because of the close relationship between the Haines sisters.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Sarah E. (Paul) Harvey, of Smithton.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
