She was a lifelong member of Dunbar Presbyterian Church serving many years as an Elder and a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Women’s Association.
She enjoyed and looked forward to the Dunbar Community Fest each year when she would greet and help serve many friends who came to the church to enjoy the chicken and biscuits she helped prepare.
Doris worked over 50 years as a clerk at Bell’s Market in Dunbar.
A trip to her home displayed her green thumb, inside and out, with a beautiful display of roses and a variety of shrubbery that she acquired from different trips, friends or whatever plant her grandchildren found for her.
Inside her house the smell of homemade goods filled the air from pies, cakes, bread and the family’s favorite, her pepperoni rolls, which seemed to find their way on so many vacations.
The family thanks the entire staff of Lafayette Manor for the excellent care and service provided to Doris, especially Deb Chisler; Doris’ personal home care provider, Nancy Dean; and the wonderful staff of Amedisys Hospice of Scottdale, Pa.
Memorial Service will be Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 4:00 at DUNBAR PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
