Forrest V. “Bud” Cottle, United States Army Veteran
Forrest V. ‘Bud’ Cottle, 84, of Jefferson, Pa., died Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born July 19, 1932 in Jefferson, Pa. son of Forrest and Martha Mae (Wilcox) Cottle.
Mr. Cottle was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson High School and after graduation he served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Upon his return, he graduated from Waynesburg College, received a Masters Degree from West Virginia University and Doctorate credits from Penn State University.
He taught high school in the Uniontown area before coming to the Jefferson-Morgan School District as Assistant Superintendent and Business Manager from 1972 until his retirement in 1995.
Mr. Cottle was Baptist by faith.
He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 954, Jefferson; 40-8 Voiture; Jefferson Hotel Football Club, a former Board Member and past Chairman of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority, and former member of the Waynesburg Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On February 1, 1958, he married Lois Conner, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Timothy D. (Dana Stewart) and Eric D. (Kimberly) Cottle both of Jefferson; granddaughter Emily Cottle, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a niece, Jean Redman; a nephew, Dave Sowden; a great nephew, Jeff Redman; and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Mary Sowden, Louise Salva, and Betty Martin; and his parents.
Friends will be received today 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the BEHM FUNERAL HOMES INC., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Pa., Gregory P. Rohanna, Supervisor, where Services will held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 with Reverend Reagan L. Fike officiating.
Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson. Military Rites and Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 954, Jefferson.
