Warrant issued for Brownsville man in escape

A warrant was issued this week for a Brownsville man who allegedly escaped police on a dirt bike Friday.

State police said Isiah Darnell Scott, 24, was arguing with an unidentified victim over money in Hiller when he pulled up his jacket to reveal a handgun Friday, saying “You better have the money, or I’m coming at you with this.”

Later that day, troopers allegedly spotted him riding a black-and-yellow dirt bike with an open-faced mask at the intersection of Third Street and Fayette Avenue in Luzerne Township. Police said he drove past the police vehicle before the trooper activated his lights and sirens.

Scott allegedly sped down Third Street and encountered stopped vehicles in a construction zone at the intersection of High Street and Brashear Avenue. Police said he passed the stopped vehicles and continued down High Street, passing more vehicles and running a red light at the intersection of Market Street and Brownsville Avenue.

He allegedly turned into a driveway at the corner of Spring Street and Shaffner Avenue and continued up a grass hill between trees and onto Steele Street where the trooper lost sight of him.

He is charged with terroristic threats and simple assault in the first case and fleeing or attempting to elude officers, flight to avoid apprehension and 41 traffic violations in the second case.

Charges were filed Monday before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
