John Mac Jones “Buck”

John Mac “Buck” Jones, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Lafayette Manor in Uniontown, Pa. He was born September 29, 1924 to the late Johnnie Mac and Blanch (Brown) Jones in Roxboro, N.C.

At the age of 18, Buck enlisted in the United States and served three years. Soon after leaving the military, Buck married the love of his life, Sara Hackett, and together they had six children.

Buck was employed for over 34 years at USS Clairton Works before retiring. He was also a creative carpenter and remodeled houses. Buck was a family man who admired his wife and was a role-model father and grandfather. He was a member of Church of God and Christ in Tower Hill No. 1 before joining Mt. Zion A.M.E. in Brownsville, Pa.

He is predeceased by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Sara Hackett Jones; and his daughters: Jennifer Mae Jones Powe and Joyce Ann Jones; and siblings: Robbin Jones, Estelle Jones Drake, Ida Lynn Jones Platter, and Ovedia Jones Collins.

Buck is survived by his children: Terral Kay Armstrong and husband, Dr. Charles Armstrong of Winston Salem, N.C.; John M. Jones and wife, Tomasina of Decatur, Ga.; Jeffrey B. Jones and wife, Geraldine of California, Pa.; and Sharon Jones-Allison and husband, Juan of Stone Mountain, Ga.; son-in-law, Dr. Alton Powe of Pittsburgh, Pa. ; grandchildren: Dr. Lisa Fisher, Adria Aldridge (Michael), Shawn Jones (Nautrie), Terra Coles, Autumn Jones Lantz (Aaron), Courtney Jones Sirhal (Daniel), and Jennifer Moody Garrison Gabriel); great-grandchildren: Hylah Fisher, Jurnee Lantz, Amara Jones, Elle Jones, and Sydney Aldridge; one sister, Verna Jones of Carlisle, Pa.; and special nephew, Carlos Hackett and wife, Cynthia of Hiller, Pa.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family of John M. ‘Buck’ Jones would like to sincerely thank the Staff at LaFayette Manor and Rose Tucker of Republic, Pa. for taking great care of our Dad and Pap.

Services are entrusted to LANTZ Funeral Home, Inc. 297 E. Main St, Uniontown, Pa.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; with funeral services commencing immediately after.

Entombment will take place at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
