Catherine Cecelia (Medvits) Geisel
Catherine Cecelia (Medvits) Geisel, 92, of Masontown, Pa., passed away December 16, 2016 at home with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Leckrone, Pa. September 13, 1924 the daughter of Michael and Catherine (Havanas) Medvits.
Catherine was a graduate of All Saints High School, Masontown.
She was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Masontown, Pa., where she belonged to The Christian Mothers and The Catholic Daughters of America.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Clyde Henry Geisel; son, Gregory Geisel; sister, Mildred Medvits; daughter-in-laws, Jean and Gail; and daughter Judy’s companion, Dale Girard.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Michael J. ‘Mickey’ Geisel and companion Vickie Jones of Morgantown, West Virginia, Rosemary Berkshire and husband Tim of Masontown, Pa., Mark A. Geisel of Uniontown, Pa., Judith Geisel of Uniontown, Pa.; nine grandchildren including special granddaughter Amber Berkshire who took care of her grandmother for over 10 years; and eleven great grandchildren.
Catherine was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A special ‘thank you’ to the employees of Allegheny Health Network, Amedisys, LaFayette Manor Inc., and her private sitter, Helen Gaborko, for all their wonderful care during the past several years.
Family and Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Ave., Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, December 20, 2016 until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in Funeral Home Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Church, Masontown, Pa., with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as the Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Saint Agnes Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary today at 3:00 p.m.
Visitation was also held Sunday, December 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.
