One man shot and killed during domestic dispute in Clarksville
A deadly dispute that state police said involved two brothers rattled a small Clarksville neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
State police responded to a domestic dispute on 120 North Street at 12:30 p.m. where an individual was reportedly shot and killed.
Christopher M. Griedel, 30 of Clarksville was confirmed dead at the scene by the Greene County Coroner’s Office.
According to the press release, Griedel died during a dispute with family members at the residence.
The house sits at the end of a quiet Greene County street where neighbors said a police presence is rare and a homicide is shocking.
A window was broken in the front of the house, and Christmas decorations were strewed across the porch.
“I’m just in shock that it happened,” said Robert Berry, who has lived across the street from the family for 18 years.
He said he could not imagine that his neighbors would be involved in a deadly domestic disturbance. Berry said he knows the family well, and would often stop by in the evenings to talk.
His eyes looked vacant as he looked toward his neighbors’ house, describing the family as “just real nice, friendly people.”
He said he was home when the apparent homicide occurred, but did not hear an altercation.
Berry said the family is part of a close-knit neighborhood community, where residents help one another. Neighbors stood outside on the windy day to talk, offering comfort and conversation.
