Hugh ‘Bud’ Sackett, age 79, of Smithfield, Pa. peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.

He enjoyed a great life with his wife and family, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was born on Saturday, March 7, 1936 in Springhill Township, Fayette County, Pa., the son of Hugh W. Sackett and Anna Jane (Miller) Sackett.

‘Bud’ had a strong personal faith in his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

He enjoyed sports, hunting and farming along with his 11 grand children and his eight great grandchildren.

He played and managed the Mount Moriah Softball League.

He worked at United States Steel’s Robena Coal Mine and always was a Farmer.

His parents; daughter, Janine Leigh Sackett; and grandson, Gregory John Sackett, preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Sackett; four sons: Kevin Scott Sackett and wife Kimberly, Gregory Wayne Sackett and Toni Hicks and her children, Jenna and Johnny Hicks, Todd Sackett and wife Brenda, Troy Alan Sackett and Rachel; grandchildren: Melanie King and husband Chris and their son Elijah, Alicia Sackett and son Brayden, Kevin Sackett Jr., Brenda Sackett, Amanda Douthitt and husband the Reverend Aaron Douthitt and their children Ellee-Kate and Greyston, Krystle Chesslo and husband Ben and their children Lily and Evie, Jenna Sackett, Michael Todd Sackett Jr. and wife Karen and their son Caleb, Tyler Dane Sackett and his fiancee’ Stephanie and their daughter Lily Anna, Anna Lee Hancheck, Kayla Hancheck, and Jase Sackett; brothers: Richard ‘Dick’ Sackett and wife Alberta and David Sackett and wife Mary Ann; sisters: Jean Pearson and husband Jon, Jane Sackett, and Judi Eckert; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m

Additional visitation on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 9 until 10 a.m. in MOUNT MORIAH BAPTIST CHURCH, 30 Church Street, Smithfield, Pa. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Darrell Edgar officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa

Visitation was also held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m
