Lloyd E. Layman (Pappy)
Lloyd E. (Pappy) Layman, age 88, of Upper Middletown, PA passed away on Saturday evening, January 23, 2016 at Generations Elder Care.
He was born on April 21, 1927 in Georges Twp., PA. Lloyd was the Son of the late John H. and Rosalee (Wingrove) Layman.
Lloyd was a member of Waltersburg Church of the Nazarene
He was retired from United States Steel, Irwin Works Plant.
Lloyd was a Veteran of WWII serving with The United States Navy He was a Seaman 1st Class on the USS Minneapolis in the Pacific Theater.
Lloyd was a member of The American Legion Post #275 of Grindstone.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years: Margaret (Rohaley) Layman.
Lloyd is survived by 5 children: Sue Edris, Roswell, GA; Charles Layman & his wife Cynthia, Herbert, PA; Rose Mary Ambrosino, Uniontown, PA; Harry Layman & his wife Erma, Lemont Furnace, PA; Harley Layman, Uniontown, PA. 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 3 sisters: Jean Mouser, Upper Middletown, PA; Ruth Yoder, Smock, PA; Alice Hawk, Connellsville, PA; Brother: John Layman, Ohio. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in THE DEARTH FUNERAL HOME 35 South Mill Street New Salem, PA on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM and on Wednesday from 9:30AM until 10:30AM where a Funeral Service will be held with Rev. Bruce Poling officiating. Entombment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery where Full Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Posts #275, 295, 940, &838
