Mount Pleasant man allegedly tried to ram car off bridge
A warrant was issued for a Mount Pleasant man who allegedly tried to ram a vehicle off a bridge in Scottdale.
Brandon Michael Thieler, 21, is facing aggravated assault and other charges for the alleged incident in July, according to court documents.
Maggie Shunk and Colt Ruby told police they saw Thieler in Scottdale. They exchanged heated words, but kept driving, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Ruby turned onto Everson Road and realized Thieler was following them, police said. Ruby accelerated, and Thieler allegedly rammed the back of his vehicle.
Near Everson Bridge, Thieler “picked up enormous speed” and struck the vehicle, police said. Shunk and Ruby reported they believed he was trying to push them off the bridge.
No injuries were reported. The incident allegedly caused about $2,000 of damage to the vehicle.
Police said Thieler admitted to chasing the two, but said he hit them because they “brake checked” him.
He is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief, according to court documents filed Friday before Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II.
