Stanley J. Mocniak, age 86, Monongahela, Pa. died Wednesday January 27, 2016 in the MonValley Care Center, Carroll Township, Pa.

He was born Saturday, November 2, 1929 in Brownsville, Pa., the son of Jozef M. Mocniak and Rose (Roskos) Mocniak-Lehman.

For 30 years, Stanley worked as a Meat Cutter at the now former A&P Grocery Store in Monongahela until their closing.

He then worked until his retirement in 1992 at the Mount Washington Foodland.

He was a member of Saint Damian of Molokai Parish in Monongahela where he had belonged to their Holy Name Society and their Knights of Columbus.

Following his graduation in 1949 from the now former Georges Township High School, which is now currently Albert Gallatin High School, he served in the United States Army Reserve.

Preceding him in death was his wife and high school sweetheart, Veronica M. (Patchan) Mocniak who died on Sunday January 24, 2016; sister Ethel Roby; and a brother Michael Mocniak who died as an infant.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in- law: David J. and Lois Mocniak, Monongahela, Pa.; Lawrence G. and Margaret Mocniak of Annapolis, Maryland and James P. and Candace Mocniak of Finleyville, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen L. and Stanley Yunkun of Monongahela, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Ryan, Joshua, Joseph, Melanie, Samantha, Bradly and Johnna; and a great granddaughter, Emily Rose; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.

Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, PA 15063 -2441 (724.258.6767), marshallmarrafuneral home.com where Funeral Prayers will be begin today, Friday, January 29, at 9:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Damien of Molokai Parish with Rev. Father George F. Chortos as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, 97 Sacred Heart Road, (Carroll Township), Monongahela

Memorial contributions can be made to the Saint Damien of Molokai Parish, 722 West Main Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.

Visitation was also held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.K
