Martin J. Kubica
Martin J. Kubica, age 89, Monongahela Pa., died Thursday afternoon, January 28, 2016 in the Haven Crest Nursing Home, Monongahela.
He was born Friday September 17, 1926 in New Salem Pennsylvania the beloved son of Martin J. Kubica and Julia (Barnecosak) Kubica.
Martin was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II.
In the late 1950’s, Martin worked at his brother’s trucking company in Royal Oak, Michigan.
After working with his brother, Matthew, he moved to Monongahela where he made his home.
He retired from the Maple Creek Mine
He was a member of Saint Damien of Molokai Parish (the former Transfiguration Church) in Monongahela and the Carroll American Legion James C. Ford Post 949 in Dunkirk, Pa.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning his home grown vegetables. On an average, he canned over one thousand jars annually.
He had a passion for fishing trips and would visit the Outer Banks in North Carolina every couple of months.
For the past few years, he had care givers that he loved spending time with. His family extends a warm thank you to every one of them for everything that they have done for him.
He is survived by three daughters: Marlene Wall and her husband David of Elrama, Pa., Janice Kubica of Huntington Beach, California, Susan Secrist of Monongahela, Pa.; two grandsons: Mark Wall and wife Christina and Daniel Wall and wife Jenelle; and three great grandchildren: Tyler Wall, Meghan Wall and Bryan Wall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice (Kois) Kubica who died in 1965; four brothers, Matthew Kubica, Thomas Kubica, Charles Kubica, Edward Kubica; and four sisters, Mary Caklos, Ann Shimshock, Julia Kostelnik, Marguerite Shinsky.
Friends will be received today, Sunday, January 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, PA 15063 (724.258.6163).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Isaac Jogues Parish, 600 Collins Avenue, Elrama, PA 15038 with Reverend Father Robert J. Boyle as the Celebrant.
Interment will be private with family only at Saint Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery in New Salem, Pa.
The Mon Valley Firing Squad and Honor Guard will conduct Services in the Funeral Home this evening at 7:00 p.m.
