Alexander Kash III

Alexander Kash III, age 64, of McGirts Road, (Clover Hill), Daisytown, Pa., a lifelong resident of West Pike Run Township died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in his home.

He was born on Wednesday, January 16, 1952 in the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital, the eldest of six children born to the now late Alexander Kash Jr. (2006) and Mary Ann Banderinko Kash (1991).

Mr. Kash graduated from California Area High School, Class of 1970. He proudly sat on the organizing committee for his class reunions.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator and was a long-time member of the Carpenters Union.

A life-long farmer, Mr. Kash was a Charter Member of the National Pike Steam, Gas, and Horse Association.

He was also an avid fan of Case tractors, model trains, cartoons, family gatherings, and cooking.

He also built and ran his own sawmill.

Alex was raised in the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Charleroi, Pa., and was a member of Daisytown United Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Duquesne, Pa.

On Sunday, June 15, 1975, he married the love of his life, the former Carolyn Jean King. They were united in marriage at the Daisytown United Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Alexander Silay. She passed away on Tuesday October 31 2006

Also deceased are his parents; his beloved grandparents, Alexander Kash Sr. (1955), Anna Buberniak Kash (1990), Michael Banderinko (1966), and Mary Szótak Banderinko (1976); sister Marilyn E. Jackson (2007); two brothers, Michael P. Kash (1979) and Edward P. Kash (2010); eight uncles, five aunts, and many cousins and friends.

Alex was most proud of his children. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Alexander Kash and son-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Curtis Nytch of Boulder, Colorado; and his beloved daughter and caregiver, Amanda Regina Kash. He is also survived by a dear family friend, Joyce Layne of Monessen, Pa. Also surviving are his sister, Christine A. Cantley (the late Robert Szedon) of Lewisburg, Tennessee; his brother, John J. Kash of Redding, California; sisters-in-law: Eleanor L. Berczik (the late Steve) of Manchester, Connecticut and Linda J. King (David) of Daisytown, Pa.; brother-in-law, John C. “Jack” King (Karin) of Haslet, Texas; three aunts: Irene Kash Gargus (the late Andy) of McClure, Pa., Marie Kash Brown (the late James) of Palm Desert, California, Nellie Banderinko Sandor (the late Jesse) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three uncles: Vladimir Kash (the late Janice), North Charleroi, Pa., Phillip Kash (Betty), of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Daniel Banderinko (the late Mary Jo) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; as well as many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. both Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, in JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa. A Hungarian Reformed Service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Ilona Komjáthy will officiate.

On Sunday, July 24, a covered dish Celebration of Life picnic and bacon roast will be held at the family farm, 342 McGirts Road, Daisytown, Pa., starting at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to California Area School District Foundation, attention of the Carolyn King Kash Fine Arts Scholarship, at Post Office Box 531, California, PA 15419.
