Rose M. (Kula) Harvilla
Rose M. (Kula) Harvilla, age 94, of Cardale, Pa., passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House, Prince Frederick, Maryland, while in the company of her beloved daughters.
She was born on Thursday, November 3, 1921 in Thompson One, Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of Valeria (Nykiel) Kula and Stanley Kula
Rose was a member of the former Church of the Madonna, Cardale, where she was a member of The Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
She had a genuine spirit and a passion for bingo, scratchy tickets, playing cards with her dearest friends and family, gardening, and polkas.
She was an avid bowler until age 80 at Fairbank Lanes and Gudac’s Lanes
She was a master pierogi maker, pie baker, and her specialty was Easter breads and pastries.
Above all, she loved her family and, together, they had many wonderful adventures.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Harvilla; sisters, Antonia Iraca, Mary Chiarello, Mildred Pisino; brother, Walter Kula; and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters: Valerie Kovach Yonkura and husband Kevin of New Salem, Pa., and Patricia Durbin and husband James of Dunkirk, Maryland; grandchildren Jody Durbin, Todd Durbin and wife Tiffany and Dr. Jennifer Kovach Stacoviak and husband Michael; great-grand children: Matilda, Durban and Breyten; and her loyal dog, Cashmi.
To celebrate the life of Rose, family and friends will be received at ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., One Legion Street, Republic, Pa., on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m., and on Thursday, March 3, until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi, Footedale Worship Site, with interment at Saint Mary Cemetery, Cardale, Pa.
