James Alan Myers, age 55, of Uniontown, Pa. passed away peacefully on Monday, February 29, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Friday, July 22, 1960 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Rose (Luick) Myers and the now late James Ely Myers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Marjorie and Paul Garred; and his brother, Richard Myers.

James was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.

He worked for many years at the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier.

He was a United States Veteran serving in the Air Force from 1986 to 1991 in the Gulf War. While in the service, he was a Crash Rescue EMT

After leaving the service, he worked as a Crash Rescuer in Michigan.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors —– especially hunting elk in Colorado.

He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle

He loved the game of baseball, coaching for many years in the HARC Baseball League in Hopwood, Pa., but most of all loved sharing and teaching the sport of baseball to his two sons.

In addition to his loving mother Rose, Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Laura Ann (Garred) Myers; his two loving sons: Joshua Cody Myers of Butler, Pa., and Garrett Richard Myers of Uniontown, Pa.; brothers and sisters: Barry Miller of Uniontown, Pa., Ted Myers of Hopwood, Pa., Carol Shuba and husband Greg of Uniontown, Pa., and Jamie Myers of Uniontown, Pa.; several loving nieces and nephews; members of the Garred family; other relatives, many friends.

Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday morning until 9:30 a.m. when Parting Prayers will be said.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road.

Interment will follow in Mt. Macrina Cemetery Uniontown, with Military Rites and Honors accorded by the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.

Visitation was also held Wednesday, March 2, from 6 to 8 p.m.
