Frances “Franny” (Kerfoot) Collier
Frances (Kerfoot) Collier, age 90, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Golden Living Center.
She was born on Sunday, April 26, 1925 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania
Frances was very proud of her family.
She was the only child of J. D. Kerfoot (a wounded World War I Veteran that was the city Treasurer of Uniontown) and Pearl McKnight Kerfoot (former teacher and Pennsylvania State Spelling Bee Champion.)
Frances was also the mother of three boys; all participated in sports at Laurel Highlands.
Frances graduated from Uniontown High School in 1942 and later from Bethany College with a degree in Psychology.
She then went on to work for CYS (Child Welfare) for over twenty-five years, often times spending her own money to see that the needs of her foster children were being met.
She was a life-long member of Central Christian Church and the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution.)
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas S. ‘Jiggs’ Collier Jr. who operated Collier’s Truck Service; and two sons: Thomas S. Collier III and John Samuel ‘Sammy’ Collier.
She is survived by one son, Jefferson K. Collier (retired Lauel Highlands teacher of 41 years); a daughter-in-law, Diane Collier; three grand children: Brian Wiles, Thomas S. Collier IV and Katelyn Collier; and two great grandchildren: Trey Wiles and Arianna Collier.
‘Franny’ will always be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit, and excitable temperament.
The family thanks her caregivers at Golden Living for the loving care, comfort and dignity they provided her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIES INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pennsylvania where the family will receive friends today, March 7, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. followed by a Service Celebrating Frances’ Life with the Reverend Heather Simpson officiating.
Interment will be private at the family’s request.
