James A. Miller
James A. Miller, 86, passed away at his home in Smithfield, Pa., on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, with his loving family at his side.
Born January 11, 1930 in Point Marion, he was a son of the late Lloyd C. and Mildred (Blaney) Miller.
A 1948 graduate of Point Marion High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the Air Force Reserves for 13 years.
Jim was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, and a self-employed contractor, having built a number of houses over his career in this area of Fayette County.
In his spare time, Jim loved to be out in the woods, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marlynne L. Miller; two children, Jeffrey Miller of Columbia, Missouri, and Cynthia Bex of Bluffton, South Carolina; five grandchildren: Sarah, Richard II, and Matthew Bex, and Chelsea and Rowdy Miller; and one brother, Warren Miller of Point Marion.
Deceased are two brothers, Lloyd ‘Buddy’ and Jerry Miller.
The family will receive friends in the OAK HILL BAPTIST CHURCH, 100 Old Frame Road, Old Frame, Pa., today 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Alvie Edwards officiating.
Arrangements are in the care of RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME.
