Ethel (Fargus) Rerko, age 84 years, of Georges Township, Uniontown, Pa died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, March 12, 2016

She was born on Monday, July 27, 1931 in Bobtown, Pa., daughter of Andrew Fargus and Anna (Bellus) Fargus.

Her farm and animals brought her extreme pride and joy. She liked to tell her stories about selling eggs to many local families, surprising her husband with the money for special family treats!

She was a Licensed Cosmetologist keeping her license updated to this year. She ran a small Beauty Shop from her home for a few years.

Ethel was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance and also The Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

She was the co-owner of Fayette Slaughter and Meat Packing.

She spent many hours in her flower garden tending to her tulips and other flowers, sharing her green thumb knowledge with her great grandchildren this past fall.

Ethel loved having her family together to share meals. Her favorite was eating from the Blessed Easter Baskets. It took three baskets of food to feed everyone and she was proud to hand make her keilbassa, pirogies and horseradish.

Ethel was predeceased by her parents; loving husband of 42 years, John Rerko Jr.; brothers and sister, Albert Fargus, George Fargus, Edward Fargus, John Fargus, Andrew Fargus, Robert Fargus and Betty Fargus.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law: John Rerko III and Sheila, William “Bill” Rerko and Henrietta and Stanley “Stuch” Rerko and Christine; beloved grandchildren: Christopher and Stephanie Rerko, Rebecca and Bill McGee, Willie Rerko, Kathleen and Rob Reckart, Melissa and James Jones, Leann and Tyler Orris, Stephany Rerko; great grandchildren: Elissa McGee, Evan McGee, Emma McGee, Chloe Jones and Mary Reckart; her sisters, Margaret Rosinsky and Nancy and Bill “Hap” Asche; many sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 17, 2016 until 9:30 a.m. when the Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery Fairchance, Pa.
