Mehalov to temporarily replace Vicites on election board

By Patty Yauger pyauger@heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

The Fayette County Court of Common Pleas has appointed attorney Mark M. Mehalov to fill a vacancy on the county election board.

Last month, county Commissioner Chairman Vincent Vicites stepped down as a member of the board while he pursues a delegate position at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, July 25-28.

Vicites was initially replaced by Connellsville attorney Mark Rowan. However, Rowan declined the position, requiring the court to name a replacement.

Mehalov will serve on the election board for the 2016 primary election and continue through the general election unless Vicites ceases to be a candidate in the November election.

Mehalov, a Democrat, will join Republican Commissioners Dave Lohr and Angela M. Zimmerlink on the election board.

According to Larry Blosser, election bureau director, the board will meet March 22 to review a proposal that would relocate the Masontown Borough polling place from the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department on North Washington Street to Saint Francis of Assisi, located on South Washington Street.

The meeting will be held at the county Public Service Building at 3:30 p.m.
