Brownsville man held for court in DVE bar shooting
A Brownsville man who allegedly shot his friend just below the heart after a Christmas party was held for court on all charges Wednesday.
Brandon Allen Dade, 34, allegedly shot Quintin Biddings Sr. Dec. 20 outside DVE Sports Bar & Grille in Brownsville. Biddings was flown to UPMC-Presybyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh and put into a medically induced coma, he testified.
Biddings said he and about 10 to 20 other people left the bar at about 2:30 a.m. when it closed. He went to his car and allegedly heard an argument between Dade and two women.
He testified at the preliminary hearing Wednesday that he saw Dade holding the two women in a headlock, holding a gun to their heads.
Biddings said he walked over to them and told Dade to put the gun down.
“We have a rapport where I talk to Brandon sometimes,” he said. “I think we’re good enough friends he’ll put the gun down.”
He said Dade has two children with his sister.
Biddings said he and Dade got into “a tussle.” Biddings slipped and fell to the ground.
He testified he got back up and he saw two flashes as Dade allegedly fired a silver gun at the ground and in the air. He testified Dade pressed the gun to his side, just below his heart and fired.
Biddings said his sister called 911 and a friend tried to comfort him.
“(My friend) told me, ‘You’re going to be alright. You’re going to survive,’ because I told him to tell my kids I loved them because I thought I was going to die,” he said during testimony.
Biddings testified he was put into a medically induced coma in the hospital and had four reconstructive surgeries on his stomach. He said he was in the hospital for a little more than one month.
He said his memory of the details of the incident was unclear. He was not sure what type of weapon Dade had, but was told it was a .22-caliber. He said he remembered it was silver. Biddings said he does not know what happened to the women, but assumed they ran.
“I just woke up at the hospital, looking at my family,” he said.
Dade is charged with attempted criminal homicide, terroristic threats, firearms not to be carried without a license, simple assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of aggravated assault.
Dade is under house arrest on a $25,000 bond while he awaits trial.
