Evelyn Joan (Whoric) Collins, R. N., age 86, of Ruskin, Florida and formerly of Connellsville, Pennsylvania passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Florida
She was born on Saturday, February 15, 1930 in Connellsville, a daughter of John H. Whoric, who was the former Editor of the Connellsville Daily Courier, and Eva (Fritsky) Whoric.
Evelyn graduated from Connellsville High School with the Class of 1947 and also from the West Penn Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Evelyn had worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Public Health Nurse in Fayette County, Pa.
She was a member of the Connellsville Partner Parish of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and it’s Christian Mothers.
Evelyn will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving husband of 62 years, whom she married on Saturday, February 13 1954, Robert G. Collins; her children: Patricia Gryp and her husband Thomas of South Bend, Indiana, Michael Collins and hiswife Yamdee of Connellsville, Pa., David Collins and his wife Jane of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Robert Collins and his wife Deborah of Parker Heights, Texas, and Amy Hebda and her husband Joseph of Elizabeth Township, Pa.; and her grandchildren: David, Sarah, Gabrielle, Sean, Riley, Audrey, Christopher, Aidan, Jacob, William, Hannah.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville, Pa., where a Blessing Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church Connellsville with the Rev. Father Daniel J. Ulishney as Celebrant.
A Committal Service will follow in the Father DiVivo Chapel followed by interment in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery.
