By The 1 min read

FALLOWFIELD TWP. — An Ellsworth man was killed late Thursday after his vehicle struck another car in the oncoming lane of traffic.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said that Jeffery Dunlap, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene of the I-70 accident at 10:32 p.m.

According to Trooper Justin L. Prejsnar, Dunlap was traveling west on I-70 at a “high rate of speed,” when he struck the rear of a tractor trailer.

The collision resulted in Dunlap’s 1991 Honda traveling over the concrete barrier that divides the east- and west-bound lanes and striking a 2008 Ford Explorer.

Police said the crash caused the Explorer to rollover and come to rest on its roof. The unidentified driver suffered serious injury and was taken to UPMC-Presbyterian.

The unidentified driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Dunlap was ejected from his vehicle. Police said he was not using a seatbelt.

The accident is under police investigation.

In addition to Fallowfield and Bentleyville fire departments, police were assisted by Mon Valley EMS, UPMC Paramedic Response Unit and Tri-Community Ambulance.
