Uniontown police officer saves dog from fire

A Uniontown police officer saved a dog from a fire at a house early Tuesday morning in the city.

Officer Jamie Holland rescued the dog from the lower level of the home, police said.

Heavy smoke and flames were showing from the second floor at 211 N. Gallatin Ave. at 4:20 a.m., officials said. The home was evacuated.

Uniontown firefighters extinguished the blaze and a State Police fire marshal was called to investigate.

Fayette EMS also responded to the scene, according to Fayette County 911. No injuries were reported.
