Shirley Louise (Fitzsimmons) Mayfield
Shirley Louise (Fitzsimmons) Mayfield, age 76, of Monessen, Pennsylvania, formerly of New Martinsville and also Paden City, West Virginia died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 while at the Haven Crest Nursing Center in Monongahela, Pennsylvania.
Shirley was born on Thursday March 23, 1939 in New Martinsville, West Virginia daughter of Noah Fitzsimmons and Genevie (Steepleton) Fitzsimmons
Shirley was a wonderful wife and mother who had a flair for life.
She loved cooking, playing the piano, singing, taking vacations.
Professionally, she had been a School Teacher for the Kanawha County School System, a Telephone Operator for C&P Telephone, a Cashier for Witschey’s Grocery Store, a Clerk at Clark’s Grill, and a Cook for the Tyler County Schools.
She was a member of the River Hill Church of Christ in Monongahela, Pennsylvania.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Loretta Billiter (2014)
Surviving are her husband of fifty-two years, John C. Mayfield; son, John T. Mayfield of Monessen, Pennsylvania, daughter, Jill C. (Charley) Dunn of South Charleston West Virginia two brothers: Gary (Pam) Fitzsimmons of New Martinsville, West Virginia and Carroll (Marilyn) Fitzsimmons of Canton, Ohio; sister, Janet (Jack) Waters of Paden City West Virginia brother-in-law, Melvin Billiter of Paden City, West Virginia; two step granddaughters: Emily Dunn and Mary “Mimi” Dunn; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Friends will be received Friday, March 25, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the JARVIS-WILLIAMS FUNERAL Home, 309 North Fourth Avenue, Paden City, WV 26159 (304.337.2311) where Services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1020 Fifth Street, New Martinsville, WV 26155.
