Second person dies from injuries in Monday crash

An 87-year-old woman died Thursday from injuries sustained in a Perry Township vehicle accident.

Joann Mizikar of Belle Vernon died Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital officials said.

Her husband, Francis Mizikar, 86, of Belle Vernon died Monday.

They were both flown by medical helicopter to the Pittsburgh hospital following a two-vehicle accident on State Route 51 at about 4:30 p.m. Monday. Police said Francis Mizikar was attempting to turn left onto the state route from Harmony Church Road when a van driven by David Jones Jr., 54, of Masontown hit Mizikar’s pickup truck on the driver’s side.

Jones, of Masontown, suffered minor injuries. His passenger, Brian Jones, 31, also of Masontown, was not injured.
