Uniontown woman looking out window apparently killed by stray bullet
Police said a Uniontown woman looking out of a window was shot and killed Friday night.
Jaqualine Carey, 32, of Uniontown was visiting her sister’s residence on Farragut Street when she was shot, according to Lt. Tom Kolencik of Uniontown City Police Department. Police said they do not believe she was specifically targeted.
Witnesses said a noise was heard outside prompting Carey to look out the window. Police said as Carey lifted the window curtain one of the gunshots went through the window frame striking her in the upper left chest area.
Uniontown police were first dispatched to 31 Farragut Street around 10 p.m. for a report of multiple shots fired. Upon arrival Lt. Tom Kolencik said he saw a woman leaned back against kitchen cabinets on the floor who appeared to be deceased, and immediately began lifesaving efforts.
Carey was transported by Fayette County EMS and was pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m. at Uniontown Hospital.
Police said there were approximately six people inside the residence, including Carey’s sister, who were not injured.
During their investigation police said several shell casings and bullets were located at the scene.
Police said two people have been detained and brought in for questioning, but no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
