An inmate was charged Monday for allegedly injuring two corrections officers after reportedly trying to flush contraband down a toilet.

Corrections officers were preparing to search Johnathan Cole, 40, for contraband when he allegedly began to flush items down the toilet Jan. 15 at the State Correctional Institute at Fayette in Labelle.

When the officers attempted to stop him, he began to fight until he was restrained, according to police.

Two officers, identified in court documents as D. Ferreyra and A. Mcintyre, suffered injuries including knee strains, a torn meniscus, bruising, swelling and other soft tissue injuries, according to the affidavit.

Cole is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
