Snyder out gains McClure in campaign contributions
Democratic incumbent state Rep. Pam Snyder received more contributions for her 50th Legislative District re-election campaign that her Republican challenger Elizabeth Rohanna McClure, according to the latest campaign finance reports.
During the reporting period from May 17 to Oct. 24, the Committee to Elect Pam Snyder received a total of $164,517 in contributions and receipts.
Added to the $14,946 carried over from the previous report, Snyder’s campaign had $179,463 available.
After making expenditures of $158,840, her campaign had a cash balance of $20,622 at the end of the reporting period.
In-kind services received during the period were valued at $78,895.
Contributions include $119,650 in contributions of more than $250 from political action committees and $34,000 in contributions of more than $250 from other sources.
Snyder received $4,300 in contributions of $50-$250 from political action committees, $5,350 in contributions of $50-$250 from other sources and $1,195 in contributions of $50 or less.
The $119,650 in PAC contributions include a $10,000 from the Service Employees International Union and LAWPAC of Harrisburg, a $7,000 contribution from Steamfitter Local 449 of Pittsburgh and $5,000 contributions from the Friends of Democratic state Rep. Brandon Neuman of Eighty Four, Steamfitter Local 449, Consol Energy and EQT Corp.
FirstEnergy made $4,500 in contributions, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers made $2,400 in contributions, the Pennsylvania State Education Association made $6,500 in contributions, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66 of Pittsburgh made $6,000 in contributions and the Greater Pennsylvania Regional Council of Carpenters of Pittsburgh made $6,000 in contributions.
Contributions of more than $250 from other sources include $5,000 from James E. Jones of Blue Mountain Equipment of Carmichaels, $3,000 from C. Jason Foster of CJ Welding and Construction of Smithfield, $2,500 from Meadows Standardbred Owners Association of Meadowlands and $3,000 from John M. Garlow of Ford Business Machines of Connellsville.
Expenditures during the reporting period included $5,094 for a golf outing at Carmichaels Golf Club, $5,034 for printing, hand cards from Rhodes and Hammers of Waynesburg, $1,500 to Fisher Development of Waynesburg for office rent, $5,880 to WS Group of Harrisburg for consulting, $4,357 for pencils and nail files from Direct Results of Waynesburg, A $3,00 donation to the 4-H Livestock Club of Waynesburg and $2,000 to Gibson Fireworks of Titusville for fireworks for the Coal Show.
In addition, Snyder spent $31,550 for advertising and $26,975 for direct mail with the House Democratic Committee Caucus. She also made $13,900 in contributions to committee.
Team Rohanna McClure received $93,936 in contributions and receipts during the reporting period.
Combined with the $8,111 she carried over from the last period, McClure had $102,048 available.
After spending $91,623, she had a balance of $10,424.
In-kind contributions were valued at $82,115 and unpaid debts and obligations were $17,587.
McClure reported no contributions of $50 to $250 from political action committees and $7,225 in contributions from $50-$250 from other sources.
She received $66,800 in PAC contributions of more than $250 and $18,456 in contributions from other sources for a total of $85,256.
No contributions of $50 or less were reported
Some of the larger contributions included $50,000 from the House Republican Committee Caucus, $4,500 from Greene County Republicans, $10,000 from Reform PAC of Manchester, $2,000 from Washington County Republicans and $5,000 from Albert Buchtan of Advanced Masonry of Carmichaels.
McClure’s expenditures included $75,000 to Mentzer Media Services of Towson, Maryland, for media services, $4,681 to Hunting Hills in Dilliner for it’s second annual shoot, $5,000 to Lamar of Pittsburgh for billboards, $1,896 to Statler Billboards for billboards and $1,600 to 84 Outdoor for billboards.
She listed herself as the creditor for $17,587 in expenses.
