Sarah Lee Loraditch
Sarah Edith (Lee) Loraditch, 89, of Sterling, Mass. passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
Born in Masontown, Pa., Sarah preferred to go by her middle name of Edith. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Wilhelm) Lee and lived 12 years in Lancaster, Mass. before moving to Sterling, Mass. in 1981. She previously lived in Oakland, New Jersey, La Grange, Ill. and Uniontown, Pa.
Edith graduated from German Township High School in McClelland-town, Pa.
She found great enjoyment in writing stories about her childhood during the 1930’s in Pennsylvania.
She loved telling stories about attending a one room Mennonite schoolhouse from the first to the eighth grade.
Edith will be remembered for her tender and gentle nature, her laugh and her smile, her thoughtfulness toward others before herself, and for her love of not only her own children but other children she cared for in the local area. She had a great appreciation of nature and especially glorious autumn days in New England.
Her husband of 24 years, Thomas F. Loraditch died in 1975.
She leaves seven children: Daniel Loraditch of Vermont, Dr. John Loraditch and his wife, Cheryl of Connecticut, Peter Loraditch of New Hampshire, Bernard, and James Loraditch, both of Sterling, Mass., Mary Lucille Parker and her husband, Dr. William Parker of Princeton, Mass. and Timothy Loraditch and his wife, Melanie of New Hampshire; three brothers: George Lee of Ohio, Thomas Lee of Wyoming and Harry Lee of Pennsylvania; five sisters: Nancy Herring of Pennsylvania, Margaret Halavick, Mary-Jen Mullen, Frances Russell and Sandy Double, all of Ohio. She was pleased to have 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Besides her husband, Edith is predeceased by her sister, Emily Kolencik of Pennsylvania
Calling hours were held on Saturday, October 15, at the MILES-STERLING FUNERAL AND TRIBUTE CENTER, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling, MA.
A private service will be held at the Eastwood Cemetery in Lancaster, Mass. at a date to be determined.
