Shizuko (Tanaka) Smith

Shizuko Smith, age 86, Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Cherry Tree Nursing Center.

She was born on December 19, 1929 in Tokyo, Japan a daughter of the late Naotaro Tanaka and Tori Yasuka Tanaka.

Suzy was a member of Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and also the Sakura Club of Pittsburgh.

She enjoyed her flower garden, cooking, baking and entertaining friends and family.

Left to cherish Suzy’s memory are her loving husband, Leroy Smith; her daughter, Suzette Smith of Wheeling, West Virginia; three brothers, Tadao Tanaka, Masao Tanaka, Masako Tanaka, and two sisters, Yuriko Tanaka, Fumiko Tanaka all of Tokyo, Japan; many nieces, nephews, cousins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pennsylvania where family and friends will be received on Monday from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m.

Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 11, 2016 in the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m. followed by a Service Celebrating Suzy’s Life at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Anderson officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
