Monessen woman involved in standoff with police

Monessen Police officers called for backup after a woman allegedly pointed a gun at police Friday afternoon while trying to serve a warrant which led to a standoff.

Monessen Police were at the Reeves Avenue residence in Monessen to serve a warrant at 3:12 p.m. according to Westmoreland County-911 Supervisor.

Police Departments from Monessen, Rostraver Twp., North Belle Vernon, Charleroi, Donora, California, West Brownsville and State Police Belle Vernon assisted at the scene.

The woman was sent to Monongahela Valley Hospital for reasons unknown at this time.
