Richard J. Cupelli
Richard J. Cupelli, 92, of Morgantown, West Virginia died on Friday, November 25, 2016 in Morgantown.
Born January 7, 1924 in Point Marion, Pa., he was a son of the late Gaetana (Palermo) and Emile Cupelli Sr.
A 1943 graduate of Point Marion High School, Richard served with the United States Navy during World War II, and retired from the Central Accounting Office of the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Following retirement, he moved back to Morgantown, spending the winters in Florida.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Madeline A. (Christner) Cupelli; two children: Richard “Jim” Cupelli Jr. of Morgantown and Nancy Green of Washington, Pa. two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Emile Cupelli Jr. of Baltimore, and Joseph (Barbara) Cupelli of Morgantown.
Also deceased are his daughter, Linda; and two sisters, Juanita Swanger and Virginia Cupelli.
Friends will be received in RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., Monday, November 28, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., the hour of a Blessing Service.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, Pa., with Military Rites and Honors accorded by the Point Marion Veterans Posts.
Memorials in honor of his service to our country may be offered to the VFW Post 747, 115 Penn Street, Point Marion, PA 15474 for assistance to local veterans.
