Larry F. Thompson, 74, of Coal Center, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in his home.

A son of the late James and Jeanne (Frazier) Thompson, he was born in Uniontown on September 6, 1942.

Protestant by faith, he had resided in Coal Center for the past 41 years.

An avid hockey fan, Larry was also an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.

His favorite past times were watching his grandchildren’s sports and activities and spending time researching family genealogy.

He retired in 1996 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mollie Clark Thompson; one daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Brian Sliva of Murrysville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott Thompson of Speers and Brett and Dana Thompson of Roscoe; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Vicki Davis of Belle Vernon and Jamie and Brad Kusman of Monongahela; a sister-in-law, Dianne Thompson of Rostraver Twp; five grandchildren: Jenna and Jessa Thompson and Mathieu, Hayden and Heath Sliva and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Thompson.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon on Friday, September 16, 2016 in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 724-929-5300, 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. www.FergusonFuneral HomeandCrematory.com

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Marton officiating.
