Alfred F. Sandorf Jr.
Alfred F. Sandorf Jr., age 91, of Uniontown, Pa. passed away on Monday, September 19th, 2016 in the Southwestern Veterans Care Center, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born on Friday, November 14, 1924 son of Alfred F. Sandorf Sr. and Kathryn Rondzik Sandorf
Alfred graduated from Saint John’s High School, Class of 1942, and attended The University of Pennsylvania.
He served his country with the United States Navy on the USS Yazoo in World War II from 1943 to 1946.
He was a lifelong member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, a dedicated member of the Parish Council, ushers, and past Scoutmaster of Troop 602. He also volunteered untold hours of his time on Church renovations over the years.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Judith S. Ewing Garofalo; and his sister, Gloria S. Briercheck.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 69 years, Clara (Mateosky) Sandorf; children: Susan Frost and husband Bruce, Marilyn Neubauer and husband Jeff, Karen George and husband David, Michael Sandorf and wife Kathleen; son-in-law, William Garofalo; grandchildren, J.D. Ewing and wife Melanie, Frank Ewing and wife Shannon, Jennifer Jubin and husband Robb, Jonathan Sandorf and wife Casey, Caitlin Sandorf, Jessica Sandorf; great grandchildren: James, Maggie, A.J. Zachary, Emma, Ethan, Colin, George, Sam, and Catherine; his sister, Patricia Johnson and her husband Gordon; and his brother, Robert Sandorf.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pennsylvania today, September 22, from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, September 23, 2016 until 10:15 a.m. when the Prayers of Transfer will be said.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa., with Rev. Father James D. Tringhese as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery Uniontown, Pa.
