William K. “Bill” Umbel Jr.
William K. ‘Bill’ Umbel Jr., age 94, born October 30, 1921 in Markleysburg, Pa., went to be with the Lord Friday, September 23, 2016 in Marquis House, Uniontown, Pa.
He attended a one room school house in Markleysburg. Later he graduated from Uniontown High School with the class of 1939. He enjoyed playing the violin in the orchestra. He then graduated with a Masters Degree from West Virginia University in Education.
He was a lifetime member of Markleysburg Union Church where over the years held every office in the Sunday School and church.
He married his first wife, Florence Beerbower, in 1946. They lived, owned and operated a farm on the Friendsville Road, Markleysburg, Pa., for 58 years. During that time he also taught math at Northern High School, Accident, Maryland. He was also a Nationwide Insurance Agent.
He was a Charter member of Markleysburg -Henry Clay Volunteer Fire Department.
On March 7, 2006, he married his second wife, Clarissa D. Sessler. They lived in Uniontown, Pa. where they attended the Third Presbyterian Church. Criss was a member of the choir. She went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2014.
He then went to Addison, Pa., to live with his daughter, Kathy Deal and her husband Scott.
He was the son of William K. Umbel Sr. and Ada (Rush) Umbel.
In addition to his wives he was predeceased by his parents; and nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two children: Ernest Umbel and wife Julie of Friendsville, Maryland and Kathy Deal and husband Scott of Addison Pa.; four grandchildren: Daniel Umbel and wife Tonya, Amy Umbel, Brian Deal and wife Kayla, Michell Menges and husband Tom; and five great grandchildren: Isaiah Umbel, Braylynn Deal, Evan Herring, Garett Rugg, Malen Rugg
Friends will be received in DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, 4222 National Pike, FARMINGTON, Pa., today, September 26, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue Tuesday, September 27, in MARKLEYSBURG UNION CHURCH, 114 Brown Hill Road, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., the hour of the Service with Rev. Michael Grantz and Rev. John DeVincent officiating.
Interment will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Markleysburg, Pa.
