The Reverend J. W. Townsend
Rev. J. W. Townsend, age 98, of Masontown, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Monday September 26, 2016.
He was born March 26, 1918 in Masontown, Pa.
J. W. was a Carpenter.
He was the Pastor of the Masontown Evangelical Mennonite Church for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn P. (Dugan) Townsend; his parents, George W. Townsend and Emma (Ressler) Townsend; and brothers, Norman Townsend and Paul Townsend.
Surviving are these children: J. Richard Townsend and wife Ruth E. of McClellandtown, Pa., Kathleen M. Opel and husband Dan F. of Uniontown, Pa., David J. Townsend of Venetia, Pa., Roger W. Townsend and wife Sandra D. of Kearney, Nebraska, and Carolyn E. Townsend at home; brother, the Rev. George D. Townsend; sister, Rebecca Tice; seven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Family and Friends will be received in the BERNARD M. TOWNSEND FUNERAL HOME, 220 South Main Street, Masontown, Pa., Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 10 until 11 a.m., hour of Service with Rev. George D. Townsend officiating.
Interment will follow in Greendale Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
