Rita L. Muzidal Sumey
Rita L. Muzidal Sumey, 81, of Hopwood, Pa., took her last breath in this world on
Friday, December 1, 2017 at Mount Macrina Manor with her loving family at her side.
She was born on Friday, April 10, 1936 in Filbert, Pa., as the daughter of Frank M. and Sophie (Zaiglin) Muzidal.
She graduated from German Township High School in 1955 with High Honors.
Rita married her lifetime partner Clyde Merwin Sumey on May 5, 1956 in Uniontown, Pa.
She worked as an Account Clerk with GMAC and later became a full-time homemaker with the advent of a son and a daughter.
Rita was a member of the Manor Lanes Bowling League where she won a number of trophies.
She was a devoted member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed arts, crafts, painting, home decorating and flower gardening.
Following Polish traditions, Rita was an expert in the kitchen and loved cooking, baking and canning.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Sophie Muzidal; and siblings, Edward Muzidal, Helen Boskovich, Stanley Muzidal, Bertha Szwed, and Joseph Muzidal.
Rita is survived by her husband, Merwin; son, Jeffrey S. and wife Deborah; daughter, Lisa J. and husband Kenneth Sproul; granddaughters: Miranda (Sumey) Ritchie Sara Sumey, and Jenna Sumey; grandsons Aaron Sproul and Gregory Sproul; a brother, Frank Muzidal of Detroit, Michigan; a sister, JoAnn Sowinski and husband Pete of Atlanta, Georgia .
Friends will be received in DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, Pa., on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, December 7, 2017 until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian will follow at 10:00 a.m. Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, Pa.
Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.
