Mobile home park ordinances updated

SOUTH UNION TWP. — Mobile home parks in the township will be facing new ordinances after township supervisors approved to advertise them.

During Wednesday’s regular meeting, supervisor Bob Schiffbauer addressed the new ordinances. He noted that their mobile home and mobile home park ordinances were outdated, though they were prompted to bring them up to speed because of a problem trailer court in the township.

“We’re taking extraordinary steps to address it,” Schiffbauer said of the trailer court on Township Drive. “We’re not going to give up until it is in compliance with our ordinances.”

“We’re taking steps to make sure it’s done correctly,” he added.

During the meeting, supervisors also addressed their annual budget report for fiscal year 2018.

Last month they adopted a tentative budget, and after further review and no further concerns, the supervisors unanimously agreed to adopt the budget, and 2018 taxes.

In other news, supervisors:

n Adopted the Fayette County 2017 Hazard Mitigation Plan as the official Hazard Mitigation Plan for the township, adding that it would cover any “natural or man-made disasters.”

n Agreed to advertise the Solid Waste Education & Enforcement Program (SWEEP) ordinance, which has proven successful in neighboring municipalities.

n Renewed the township’s contract with Hoffman’s Boarding Kennels for the following year.
