Goal: $25,000

Sparkle the Christmas star is very happy as donations from Herald-Standard readers have pushed the Give-A-Christmas total to $4,637.50. The latest contributions amounted to $2,557.50.

“That’s so wonderful!” said Sparkle, campaign mascot. “Remember that we want to raise $25,000 to benefit the Salvation Army in the Herald-Standard readership area. That means the money stays in our communities and helps our neighbors. This is a great boost towards making that goal.”

The latest donations came from Republic, Uniontown, Lemont Furnace, Smithfield, Point Marion, Hopwood and Vanderbilt.

Donors include Mary L. Shelter, in memory of my husband and daughter, James and Sharon Shelter, Republic; Maryann Galie, in loving memory of Geano Galie, Joe Batis Jr. and Barb Batis, Uniontown; John and Kathleen Pechunka, Lemont Furnace; Sandy Howell, in memory of Dee Howell from his family, Smithfield; George O’Neal, Point Marion; John Barnhart, Uniontown, Fayette Board of REALTORS, Uniontown; Hopwood United Methodist Church, Hopwood; Bill and Mary Kay Joy, Uniontown; Central Christian Church, Uniontown; Point Marion Rotary Club, Point Marion; Great Bethel Baptist Church, Lemont Furnace; William Mosser, given in memory of loved ones, Vanderbilt; Elizabeth Gaydos, Uniontown; and Abundant Life Church, Uniontown.

Nicholas J. Cook, pastor of Abundant Life, sent a nice note with the church’s gift: “Dear Friends, We extend our thanks to the Herald-Standard for partnering with the Salvation Army to help meet the needs of many people of our community.

“We also extend our thanks to the Salvation Army for all that they do to allow people to experience the love of Jesus at Christmas when we celebrate the birth of the Savior of the world.”

“Thank you so much to all our readers who are participating in the campaign. We appreciate your donations and we know the Salvation Army does, too,” said Sparkle.
