A 16-year-old boy waived homicide charges to the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday for allegedly killing a man in August.

Kaii Nishaun McCargo of Uniontown was charged as an adult in the death of Raji Raven Hickenbottom. His waiver Tuesday includes a tentative agreement to transfer his case to juvenile court.

Daejean Isiah Hooper told state police he went with Hickenbottom and McCargo to 15 Clark Street Aug. 10, where he had an earlier argument with residents.

He and McCargo were standing in front of the home when Hickenbottom and Raphael Antonio Cannon started fighting a few feet away. McCargo was holding a .38-caliber revolver pointed at the men as they fought, according to court paperwork.

Hooper heard a single gunshot and ran for cover behind a vehicle, then found Hickenbottom was shot in the chest, he told investigators.

Laniel Robinson and Hooper put Hickenbottom in a car and took him to Uniontown Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:50 a.m. An autopsy report showed he died from a gunshot wound.

McCargo is charged with criminal homicide, criminal attempt to commit homicide, possession of a firearm by a minor, firearm not to be carried without a license and recklessly endangering another person.

Bail was denied in the case. He remains in the county lockup, where he will turn 17 next week.

McCargo hired a private attorney, R. Blaine Jones II of Pittsburgh. He did not personally appear in court Tuesday.
