Robert F. Miller, age 70, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital.

His parents were George F. and Ellen Isabelle (Shrader) Miller of Martin, Pennsylvania.

He grew up in a home with seven other siblings, a grandmother in her rocking chair, and lots of opportunities to walk in the woods and learn more about this amazing world.

Bob graduated from Albert Gallatin High School in 1965 and served four years in the United States Air Force. The GI Bill gave him the opportunity to attend Kean College in New Jersey and West Virginia University.

He married Deborah Crilly in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in 1973 and gladly escorted her to the many places she wanted to go in life.

He was hired in 1976 by Albright National Bank in Kingwood, West Virginia to install the first computer system in Preston County. It was such a novelty that it became a local “tourist attraction.” Bob was one of the first computer geeks, and he loved the challenges involved.

In 1999, he was hired by the Preston Federal Credit Union in Kingwood as their Chief Executive Officer. Throughout the years, Bob helped with the construction of a new building for the credit union, increased their assets, and added many enhancements to their services. He knew what it was like to be a small town banker whom everyone knew and trusted.

Bob was a good enough carpenter to finish and repair his own home and enjoyed biking on beautiful trails.

He was a Kingwood Rotary Club member for a number of years.

During a Buckwheat Festival concert, he was asked to clog during the Wheeling Symphony’s performance of “Orange Blossom Special,” and the crowd loved it!

After being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in April 2015, Bob did his best to fight with all his might. He received two standard treatments, participated in three clinical trials, and stayed in treatment at WVU till the very end. He was an early patient in the NIH/NCI CAR T-cell immunotherapy treatment for lymphoma patients, which did benefit him.

He is survived by his brother Dan and his wife Elke of Bridgeville, Pa.; brother Gary and his wife Tammy of Smithfield, Pa.; two sisters: Helen Miller and Jeannette Keith; two nieces: Robin Pruitt and Valerie Keith; and two nephews: Chris Miller and Stephan Keith. He also leaves behind his Crilly/Eicher family who loved him for his quiet friendly demeanor and special joy in life.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers George and Paul, and sister, Connie Condrey.

As he requested, he will be cremated.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Arthurdale Center Hall on Route 92 in Preston County on Saturday, December 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. All are invited to come and share their stories about Bob and a hug or two. Starbucks will be served.

Memorial donations can be sent to the Preston Federal Credit Union Scholarship, 434 East Main Street, Kingwood, WV 26537 in memory of Bob.

MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 13411 Veterans Memorial Highway, Reedsville, WV 26547 (304.864.3311) is honored to serve the Miller family.
