Frances Devan Moore “Fran”
Frances Devan Moore, “Fran”, passed away peacefully in the evening hours of Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Hillside Manor Personal Care Home, Uniontown, Pa. The entire day she was surrounded by love and when the Lord called her home, she was comforted by her husband of 56 years, Edwin E. Moore, her daughter and two youngest sons.
Fran was a devout Christian and she loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a member of the Uniontown Church of the Brethren, the same place where she and “Eddie” were married so many years ago.
Throughout her life Fran touched the lives of many, from the young girls to whom she taught dance at the Jean King School of Dance to the Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts to whom she was a Den Mother, to the members and families of the churches at which her husband pastored over the years.
Fran was very creative and artistic. She always seemed to be in the midst of a project. Whether it was painting Christmas ornaments for her family and friends, creating centerpieces for her children’s weddings, or leading the craft project at Bible School, her artistic talent shined through.
Above all, Fran was a loving wife to her husband, a loving mother to her children, and a loving “nanny” to her grandchildren. She would often say that all she ever wanted to be was a mom, and she was to her five children who cherished her.
Fran was preceded in death by her father, Frank Devan; her mother Ruth (McKinney) Devan Rankin; and her sister, Janet Brasuk.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Moore; daughter, Krista Thompson and husband Bill of Chalkhill, Pa.; son, Matthew Moore and wife Rochelle of Marietta, Georgia; son, Joshua Moore and wife Jennifer of Nashville, Tennessee; son, Benjamin Moore and wife Danielle of Uniontown, Pa.; son, Lucas Moore and wife Crystal of Morgantown, West Virginia; nine grandchildren: Megan Grimm and husband Max, Jesse Thompson and wife Jessica, Jacob Thompson, Emily Bowers and husband Brett, Garrett Moore, Nicole Moore, Jacob Smith, Savannah Smith, Katie Jo Moore; three great-grand children: Gabriel Gross, Jazper Thompson and Mason Bowers.
Friends will be received in the SHELL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., Tuesday, December 26, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m
Visitation will continue in the UNIONTOWN CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, 20 Robinson Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 10 until 11 a.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Stein officiating.
