Agnes Mollica Zidek
Agnes (Mollica) Zidek, 97, Hopwood, Pa., passed away “to Paradise” as she was fond of saying, on Christmas morning 2017 with her son by her side.
She graduated from Uniontown High School and was later married to Albert Zidek in 1943, a union lasting 63 years. With their newborn son, Albert Jr., the family moved to Filbert, Pa., in 1946 where Agnes was an avid homemaker.
After relocating to Warren, Ohio in 1956, Agnes worked in sales for the Strouss Company and also as a Teacher’s Aide at Saint Mary’s High School.
With retirement, she and her husband returned to Uniontown to be closer to family and old friends. They joined Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Throughout her life, Agnes’ Catholic beliefs and faith served as a source of love and courage that she shared with all who knew her.
She was also known for her love of gardening and craft-making, as well as having a fine sense of style and fashion.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband in 2006. And previously her parents, Carlo and Anna Mollica of Uniontown, Pa., as well as sisters Carolyn of Baltimore, Maryland Theresa of Cardale, Pa., and brother Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her son, Albert of El Cerrito, California; and the many Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland, Ohio nieces and nephews; as well as caregivers and friends who assisted her independent living well into her 90th decade.
The family extends much and special gratitude to the staff at Lafayette Manor for their attentiveness and loving care during Agnes’ stay and final days there.
