Joseph Elias “Uncle Joe”

Joseph Elias, age 88, Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 with his family by his side.

“Uncle Joe” was born on Friday, March 8, 1929 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Thomas and Mary (Joseph) Elias.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Emiline Elias, Anne Yankoski, Betty Elias, Elizabeth Elias, and Dorothy Elias; and three brothers, Thomas Elias Jr., George Elias, John Elias.

Mr. Elias was a successful businessman with several business ventures including Founder of Yum Yum Tasty Donuts.

He traveled extensively around the world. He became “Uncle Joe” to everyone. He would rather be in a car going somewhere than sitting idle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna (Racic) Elias; two daughters: Terry Pawl and husband Carl, and Lisa Rist and her husband John; six grandchildren; adopted son, Doug Szczodrowski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received in the SAINT GEORGE MARONITE CHURCH, Six Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held by Reverend Father El-Badaoui Habib, M.L.M., at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be private in Saint Mary Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa.

Arrangements are by the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa.
