Lohr, Show to attend Trump inauguration
Fayette County Commissioner Dave Lohr and Republican Committee Chairman David Show will be among those taking part in the pomp and circumstance of the presidential inauguration today.
When Donald Trump was elected president Nov. 8, Lohr sought tickets to the swearing-in ceremony to be a part of the history-making event.
“I’ve long-been a Republican Party candidate supporter,” he said, declining to divulge whether he supported the New York businessman during the campaign. “When he won (the primary), I supported him.”
Lohr said he has been most impressed with Trump’s “bluntness,” as it resonates with his supporters across the county, state and nation.
“He thinks and says what people want to get across to the elected officials,” said Lohr. “It’s an asset and something that has not happened in the past.”
Lohr said he will travel to Washington, D.C., with family and friends to watch as U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administers the oath to the nation’s 45th president.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be there,” he said. “I believe it is going to be a very exciting four years.”
Show, too, is anticipating the opportunity to witness the oath of office being administered to Trump and Vice President-elect Michael R. Pence.
“As (committee chairman), it was an honor to be invited to the inauguration, its events and the Freedom Ball,” said Show. “Having the opportunity to meet and speak with President-elect Trump during the campaign, I am sure the event will be done in his unique style.”
Although a long-time Republican, Show said this will be the first inauguration he has attended.
“This will be a first-time experience that I’m sure my wife and I will long remember,” he said. “We will be proud to represent our county at this historic event as Fayette County is recognized for its contributions to the campaign.”
