John O. Custer, Retired Railroad Machinist, Enthusiastic Airplane Pilot, and Lay Minister

John O. Custer of Coolspring, Pa., died Friday, January 20, 2017 in the Eicher’s Personal Care Home. He received his angel wings and was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Be still and know that I am God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hazel Custer, one sister and two brothers.

John was a lay minister at Hopwood United Methodist Church and the Coolspring United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir.

He was an enthusiastic airplane Pilot and retired Railroad Machinist.

He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing for his loving wife.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Yauger) Custer and her children: Bob, Mark, Gina; grand children: Bobbi Jean, Randy, Matthew, Patrick, Sand Man, Abby, Marki; and one sister, Louise.

Friends will be received in DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, Pa., today, January 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday until 11:00 a.m., the hour of the Service with the Reverend Scott McCormick officiating.
