A Uniontown man was arrested and charged after brandishing a weapon and shooting multiple rounds into the air near at least one person at a residence on National Pike in Wharton Township on Friday evening.

State police were called to respond to a residence at 3166 National Pike around 7 p.m. for reports of shots being fired by a man later identified as Daniel Boyd, 41, of Uniontown, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Around 8 p.m., local fire departments were activated to assist state police in setting up a perimeter around the residence, which involved shutting down both lanes of traffic on Route 40.

Police said once they set up a parameter, Boyd left the residence in a vehicle and state police then conducted a traffic stop and placed him in custody near the Braddock’s Grave monument on Route 40.

Pennsylvania State Police trooper Robert Broadwater said, “they were trying to alleviate any possible injuries to any motorists,” which is why they closed the road. Motorists resumed traffic shortly before 9 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

Boyd is lodged in the Fayette County Prison, according to state police.
