James “Jim” Lipscomb

James ‘Jim’ Lipscomb, 68, of Smithfield, PA, passed away July 18, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Uniontown, PA on May 16, 1949, the son of Robert and Helen Petechell Lipscomb.

After graduating from Albert Gallatin High School, Class of 1967, he

enlisted in U.S. Navy. He was employed as a Coal Miner at Robena and Dilworth Mines where his friends called him ‘Lippy’.

Jim enjoyed fishing, car shows and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marianne Reda.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judith A. (Dulik) Lipscomb, who will dearly miss him; daughter, Susan (Joseph) Hickman of Masontown, PA; son, Timothy (Denise) Lipscomb of New Salem, PA; six grandchildren: Shelby (Joseph) Wrona, Angela Hickman, Timothy Lipscomb, Jr., Jonathan Lipscomb, Sidney Lipscomb and Ava Lipscomb; two great grandchildren: Easton Hickman and Scarlett Wrona; brothers: Robert (Jan) Lipscomb Jr. of Massachusetts and Charles (Marlene) Lipscomb of Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the John S. Maykuth Jr. Funeral Home, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, PA on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 2 until 8 p.m. and Saturday, until 10:00 a.m. the hour of service in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rodney Thomas officiating.

Interment at St. Mary’s Orthodox Cemetery, Masontown, PA.
