Homer Duane Baker
Homer Duane Baker, 88 years, Chalk Hill, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2017. He passed away peacefully with loving family at his side.
He was born on Sunday January 20, 1929 in Connellsville, Pa.
Preceding him in death were his parents, David F. Baker and Martha A. (Stenger) Baker; his first wife, Rose Ann (Clutter) Baker; a brother, David E. Baker; and a sister, Dolores Richards.
Duane was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served honorably in the United States Army.
He had been a Heavy Equipment Operator in the construction business and was once the Business Manager for Operating Engineers Local 66.
He was a self-taught pilot who began flying at the age of 14. He loved flying and also riding his motorcycle.
Duane played football during his high school years and was a very good Lineman.
He was a member of Fayette Lodge No. 228 F, & A.M. and AMVETS General George C. Marshall Post 103 in Hopwood, Pa.
Duane was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was full of life.
Surviving are the love of his life, his wife, Patricia Louise (Weiland) Baker: six children: Amelia Ann Geer of Altoona, Pa., Jeffrey Duane Baker and wife Jerri of Edinboro, Pa., James P. Baker and wife Cindy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rhonda Mae Zeigler and husband Fred, Mary Jo Buehner and husband Jack and Jamie Ann Hasley all of Chalk Hill; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three brothers: Charles E. Baker of Pensacola, Florida and Philip Baker and Walter L. Baker and wife Diane all of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Friends will be received in the SHELL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., Tuesday, July 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. A Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Collins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Duane to Family of Faith Outreach 314 Nelson Road, Farmington, PA 15437.
Fayette Lodge No. 228 F. & A.M. will conduct Services in funeral home on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
