Connellsville man arrested for Sunoco robbery
A 52-year-old Connellsville man was arraigned Tuesday night for allegedly robbing Sunoco in Connellsville Saturday.
Jeffrey Alan Coffer of 1508 E. Crawford Ave. is charged with robbery, terroristic threats, theft, receiving stolen property and recklessly endangering another person.
Erik Johnson, an employee at the McCormick Avenue gas station, reported to police the man came into the store at about 10 p.m. and asked if they were still open. He then allegedly said he had a gun and demanded money, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case.
He fled the scene with $124 after telling the cashier he would shoot him unless Johnson gave the robber a five minute head start before calling police, court documents said.
The store manager recognized Coffer from the surveillance footage, police said.
Coffer was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II and lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 15 before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr.
